1956
Groundbreaking on November 11, 1956 and
school opening in 1957. The members of the
first faculty were comprised of the
LaSallian Christian Brothers who taught
the boys and the Franciscan Sisters and the
I.B.V.M. Sisters who taught the girls.
1965
St. Francis High School
changed their mascot from the Knights
to the Spartans after joining the
West Suburban Catholic Conference,
because Immaculate Conception
was already the Knights.
1969
The first co-educational classes began.
1971
The last of the founding religious orders
withdrew and St. Francis High School
became an independent school.
1988
Won the first of eight girls’ Volleyball
State Championships.
1991
The first Kairos retreat was held.
2001
The Kuhn Cultural Arts Center
and Spyglass Athletic Center
were dedicated September 30.
2002
The President/Principal
Administrative Model was established.
2008
Won the 5A State Football Championship.
