benefit the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry
(AAIFP). During these especially
difficult times it is necessary to look beyond
ourselves. For those in our area struggling
to make ends meet, AAIFP is there to help. The
Pack the Pantry food drive will help restock the
pantry shelves ahead of our summer vacation,
because hunger takes no time off. Collection will
take place during homeroom Wednesday, April 29
through Friday, May 1. Some non-perishable
items that are needed are baby formula, cereal,
soup, spaghetti sauce, sugar, canned fruit and
pasta. Please be as generous as your means
allow. Thank you for your help in combating

A Message from Bishop
Sartain
Bishop Sartain wishes to express his
sincere gratitude to those who contacted their
legislators expressing opposition to HB
2354, the State
FOCA proposal. This bill has been
defeated and will not be called for a
vote. This great accomplishment would not
have happened without decisive action by the
Catholic faithful in the Diocese of Joliet and
across the state of Illinois.
We now have the opportunity to contact
our legislators once again. This time we need to
ask our elected officials to vote yes on HB 3700,
a bill that will truly reduce the unnecessary
taking of innocent human life. HB 3700 would
mandate that an ultrasound be offered to an
expectant mother prior to an abortion.
If you would like to receive additional updates on
this bill, or on other matters affecting the
Catholic Church's public policy agenda in
Springfield, please call 312-368-1066, or go to www.catholicconferenceofillinois.org.
Thank you for your actions and
prayers.

Notes From the Wellness
Center
Tips for
Prom:
Going to Prom is an exciting event. Whether
you're going solo, with a group or with a date,
being responsible is key. Making smart decisions
may help lower your stress while planning and
enjoying the big night. Make sure your evening is
fun, safe and healthy by following these
tips:
- Get in shape slowly and wisely. Eat healthy
and be active. Avoid last minute dieting.
- Protect yourself from harmful UV rays by
avoiding indoor and outdoor tanning.
- Test all cosmetics and hair dyes before
using them.
- Choose comfortable shoes and attire.
- Watch your budget. Have fun without spending
a lot of money and causing unneeded stress.
- Remember that you don't need a date to have
fun.
- Say no to alcohol, drugs and sex.
- Have someone to call in case plans change or
you need help.
- Don't drink and drive and don't get into a
car with someone who has.
- Respect yourself and others.

National School Library
Month
Worlds connect @ your library: St. Francis
Library celebrates National School Library Month
in April. It's National School
Library Month, a time to celebrate the
contributions of libraries, librarians and library
workers in schools, and campuses nationwide - and
the perfect time to discover how worlds connect @
your library. The St. Francis Library is
celebrating National School Library Month with a
display of new books, student created READ posters
and a "Get Caught Reading" promotion to cap off
the month.
Every day, school libraries in
big cities and small towns, colleges and
universities contribute to their students
communities. As part of the St. Francis library
program, students and staff do research, get
homework help, select books for their enjoyment
and participate in lively book discussions.
National School Library Month is a
national observance sponsored by the American
