The beginning of the school year
is off to a great start! Thank you for your
support as we all get back into the swing of

Group Counseling
Program
Group Counseling Program at St. Francis is
starting in the beginning of September!
The group-counseling program at St.
Francis High School is designed to meet the needs
of all of our students. This year we will again
offer several groups. Group sizes are limited and
registration is required. Please talk with your
child about these groups. If you feel your child
might profit from one of these groups or you would
like to learn more about them, please contact Mrs.
Rupp at extension 104 or email her at arupp@sfhsnet.orgThe
groups offered this semester are listed
below: I: Short-term Groups for Freshmen and
Transfer Students: these groups are intended to
help students with the adjustment to a new school
setting. II: Ongoing Support Groups: these
groups are intended for children who are dealing
with difficult situations in their lives such as
divorce, family conflict, illness,... They are
also intended for students who would like to work
on personal issues such as depression, anxiety,
self-esteem, social isolation..... Mrs. Rupp
will lead this group, which meets once a week
throughout the school year. III: Grief Group :
this group is intended for students who have
experienced a significant loss in their lives
(death of a relative or friend). Mrs. Rupp will
lead this group, which meets once a week
throughout the school

Pastoral
Ministry News:
- Friday will
be the last day to bring in school supply
donations for Humanitarian Service Project.
Please place them in the blue bin in the main
hallway or a box in the
chapel!
- Because of the overwhelming interest in the
"See It Differently" Service Retreats, October
13-14 (Seniors only, openings available) and
February 25-26 (closed and wait listed) we
are adding a March date:
Friday, March 12,
3:00pm-Saturday, March 13, 5:00pm. Space is
limited so sign up soon in the Pastoral Ministry
Department. This experience will
satisfy your service requirement for the year
while providing you with the opportunity to stay
overnight in Chicago and participate in a
variety of service experiences with your
friends. Where: Brother
David Darst Center, Bridgeport neighborhood in
Chicago Cost: $100 (Must be paid in full in
order to reserve a

- Senior Girl's Kairos (September 8-11th )
applications are available and are due on or
before Friday, August 28th. (Note: The
half sheet in the summer mailing is not the
'packet') See Mrs. Mercadante for more

- There is still room available on the Belize
Spring Breakout! Come along with 20 St. Francis
students and staff to serve in Belize this
Spring Break, March 27th-April 3, 2010.
Cost is approximately $1600 to be made in 3
payments (September 15, November 13, and January
15). See Mrs. Mercadante for
details.

in the Homecoming
Festivities
Attention ALL PARENTS! Please plan to
attend the Homecoming Social / All School Reunion
for all parents, alumni and
friends at Pal Joey's after the Homecoming
football game on Friday, September 25th. $20
before the event or $25 at the door includes food,

Annual Alumni Golf Outing on Friday, September

serves as the major fundraiser for the Alumni
Association. All monies raised from this
