St. Francis High School 12/18/08
SFHS Principal's eNews
As I am sure you are aware, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for our area beginning today at 3 pm until noon tomorrow.  If need be, a delayed start, as late as noon, will be activated for tomorrow's exams.  If we cannot administer exams tomorrow, then when we return on Monday, January 5, 2009 we will follow a special schedule for a full day of school.   The special schedule will begin with Exam Period 2 then Exam Period 1 with regular classes and lunch to follow. As a matter of standard procedure, the automated calling tree will be activated and the website updated.  Let's all pray that we see a full house in session at St. Francis tomorrow!

On behalf of the Faculty and Staff, it is with heartfelt gratitude that we thank those who so generously contributed to the Faculty & Staff Christmas Fund.  We are all so fortunate to be a part of the St. Francis Family. Thank you!

My prayer for you and your family is that you have the gift of faith, the blessing of hope, and the peace of His love at Christmas and always.
Sincerely,

Raeann Huhn - Principal

SENIOR CELEBRATION - April 18, 2009
The Chicago Tribune's
3rd Annual Sako Awards

Congrats to our "Coach of the Year" and "Team of the Year" as listed in the 3rd annual Sako Awards on the chicagotribune.com. To view the article click on this link http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/the_inside_scoop/2008/12/3rd-annual-sako.html

Coach of the Year
Greg Purnell, St. Francis: A program that had won six games the last two years suddenly came together with a magical run to the 5A title. Purnell did a remarkable job of cultivating an "I've-got-your-back" attitude among his players.

Team of the Year

St. Francis Spartans: Going from 3-6 to 13-1 and snapping Metamora's 27-game winning streak in the title game would be enough to claim this honor. But more significant is the way these Spartans did it. Teammates genuinely cared for one another, and no sacrifice was too great. Their combined trust in each other forged a powerful belief that they could turn the high school football world upside down.
