Note from the Principal

The IHSA Board of Directors, the Sportsmanship Advisory Committee and the IHSA Staff awarded St. Francis High School and the St. Francis community the "Do What's Right! State Final Sportsmanship Award" for the Girls Volleyball State Finals. This was based on the high standard that St. Francis Spartans set for other schools to follow, and it is particularly meaningful as the entire St. Francis community shares in the award; the players, coaches, parents, students, spectators and school personnel.  Congratulations Spartans!

May the Joy and Peace of Christmas be with you now and throughout the new year.

Notes from the Nurse
New Vaccination Required

Due to the increased prevalence of pertussis (whooping cough), the Illinois Department of Public Health has changed the Child Health Examination Code regarding the Diphtheria, Pertussis and Tetanus requirement. Now, students entering grades six through twelve who have not already received a Tdap vaccination are required to receive one (1) Tdap dose regardless of the interval since the last DTaP, DT or Td dose prior to the start of the 2012-2013 school year.

We will be reviewing all immunization records of rising sophomores, juniors and seniors for compliance. If your student needs a Tdap vaccine you will receive a letter in the mail early in the upcoming year. We will need to have documentation of your student's compliance.

We appreciate your cooperation. Students who are not in compliance will be excluded from school.

Freshman Students and Parents

On January 12, 2012, all freshmen will be going to the computer lab to use the Learning Styles Inventory which is part of the Naviance Family Connection College and Career Planning Program.  In order to log into this program, each freshman student must have his/her own personal email address which will be the user name.  The student cannot use a parent or sibling's email address.  Therefore, a freshman student who does not already have a personal email account must establish one before January 12.  We appreciate your assistance in this manner so students do not miss out on this tremendous learning opportunity and future use of the Naviance program.

Parent Portal

In order for teachers to finalize their final semester averages, the Parent-Student Portal will be deactivated on Friday, December 16 at 8:00 am.  On Tuesday, January 10 at 8:00 am, the Parent-Student Portal will be reactivated. Students are encouraged to check the portal Tuesday, January 10 and contact their teacher on Wednesday, January 11  if there is a grade discrepancy.  Once grades are verified and class ranks are determined, report cards will be printed and mailed. We estimate report cards will be mailed the week of January 16, 2012.
