Quote of the Week: Spring is
nature's way of saying, "Let's party!"
~Robin
Williams
Congratulations to the Dance Team for the
first time in school history brought home TWO
state trophies. In addition to this
accomplishment, our 2nd Place finish in the
Lyrical category was the highest finish in school
history as well. In the Open Dance category, the
girls finished in 3rd
place. Congratulations to four St.
Francis students who have received the honor of
being awarded the J. Kyle Braid Leadership Award:
Kylee Read '12, Andi Matichak '12, Jake
Tibble '12, and Ryan Coyle '12. All students
that attend or are nominated for the J. Kyle Braid
leadership program must be athletes and have shown
themselves to be leaders on their teams and in the
classroom.
Eric Stout has advanced downstate to compete
in the 3 point shooting contest. Eric is one
of only 64 participants to make is
downstate. He went 10 for 15 both nights to
win the Sectional semi and the Sectional
final. Eric will shoot in the preliminaries
on Thursday at Peoria's Carver Arena.
Congratulations to Shawn Healy on being named
as the Kane County Chronicle Boys Basketball Coach
of the Year!
Good Luck to all Spring Sports! Go
Spartans!

to more than 2 million missed school days
annually. Let's be ready. Click here for useful information

Library-Time
Out For
Reading Tuesday,
April 20th is the date for the final 2009-2010,
Time Out for Reading. The book selected for
the discussion is "Catching Fire" by Suzanne
Collins, the sequel to last year's popular book,
"The Hunger Games." "Catching Fire,"
continues the story of Katniss, and Peeta, as they
work and train to survive a forced return to the
Annual Hunger Games, and rumors of a rebellion
sparked by their previous year's victory. The
story also gives us more information about the
nation of Panem, the intrigues in the Capitol and
the rumors of the secret District 13. The story is
intriguing and suspenseful, ending with just
enough unanswered questions to make us look
forward to the third installment. All
St. Francis students who read "Catching Fire," are
invited to participate in the discussion.
Interested students are asked to sign-up in the
library starting Thursday, April
15th. Refreshments will be
served. |

Portable Burners Needed for Haiti

Festival, the French students will
be hosting a café/patisserie. They will serve
crepes, chocolat fondue and pain au chocolat.
We have been searching for portable burners or a
portable stove which we will need to make the
crepes. If anyone has this item, perhaps
for camping or off site cooking, we
would love to borrow it for that afternoon and
evening. Please call Sue Harsa at (630) 668-5800
