Quote of the Week: "Easter is the demonstration of God that life is essentially spiritual and timeless." ~ Charles M. Crowe

In preparation for the new building, the Main Office will move over Spring Break. When we return on Tuesday, April 6th, the Main Entrance will now be through door #4. Door #4 is located off the front northeast parking lot.

Parents, this article is worth the time to read. It is written by a Harvard trained neurologist. She talks about why teenagers act the way they do and why it is so maddening to us.

Hope for Haiti Festival - Saturday, April 10th

Join the St. Francis Community for a night filled with games, activities, food and friendship as we come together to raise money for an important cause.  On Saturday, April 10th, St. Francis will open its doors to St. Francis families and its surrounding communities for the Hope for Haiti Festival.  The event is set to raise money to fund the mobile unit of Feed My Starving Children on our campus to pack 100,000 meals on May 14th for the people of Haiti.  The festival is designed for all ages to enjoy. Activities include: speed pitch, hockey shot, bungee run, dunk tank, ping pong, bags, face painting, kiddie games, bingo, snow cones, food and much, much more! The activities will run from 5-8pm.  Following the events we will celebrate mass together and all are again welcome to join.  We hope this will be a night of unity and community, and we certainly hope to see you there!

Any questions about the festival on April 10th please email or call Kate Kowalski at kkowalski@sfhsnet.org or 630-668-5800 ext. 1162.

For more information for helping with the Mobile Feed My Starving Children May 14th, contact Diane Mercadante at dmercadante@sfhsnet.org or 630-668-5800 ext. 1148.
Raffles for Hope for Haiti Festival

St. Francis cannot thank you enough for all you give throughout the year at our school.  We are finishing plans for another grand event with the Hope for Haiti Festival, and only wanted to offer the opportunity to anyone who would like to donate items for a small raffle.  This is not an obligation, just an invitation if there were any items that could run from $5-$30 - gift certificates, small baskets, small items of interest - whatever! If this is something that touches your heart and you were looking for something to do - this would be great.  Any questions or donations, please contact Kate Kowalski kkowalski@sfhsnet.org or call 668-5800 ext. 1162.  Thank you as always for your support!

ST. FRANCIS TAKES PART IN NATIONAL ALCOHOL and DRUG RECOVERY MONTH

As part of the National Alcohol and Drug Recovery Month, which aims to motivate individuals who need help to get treatment and to raise public awareness about alcoholism and drug addiction, the Guidance and Counseling Department will offer confidential alcohol and drug screenings and informational meetings throughout the month of April. If you are interested in finding out more information, please contact Mrs. Rupp at ext. 1104 or Ms. Sullivan at ext.1108.
Since early detection of alcoholism and drug addiction can increase the likelihood of  successful recovery, knowing the warning signs is important:
  • Blackouts. Periods of time after drinking that cannot be remembered.
  • Tolerance. Requiring increasingly larger amounts of alcohol to experience the same effect.
  • Physical withdrawal symptoms. These may include nausea as well as shaking, sweating, confusion and hallucinations (delirium tremens) while not drinking. Delirium tremens (also known as "the DTs") is the most serious symptom of acute alcohol withdrawal.
  • Legal, relationship, financial problems.
  • Anhedonia. Loss of interest in once pleasurable activities.
  • Unusual drinking habits. These may include drinking alone or in secret, gulping drinks or making a ritual of having drinks before, during and after dinner.
  • Irritability. Feeling irritable when drinking patterns are disrupted.
Library Begins to Move

In preparation for our move to Room 116, the library will begin packing up all books and materials immediately upon returning from Spring Break. All library materials must be returned by Thursday, April 8. Charges will be assessed for overdue books, lost or damaged materials. Thank you for your diligence in returning all materials.
