Open House - Nov 16th - 6:00pm

As the primary recruiter, I often am asked: "How can I help?" So many of you give so much of your time, treasure, and talents to our school community, but there is another way for you to give back to the school. Personal reference and referral is by far the most influential method of adding great students and families to our community and school. Invite another family in your school, parish, or neighborhood with students in the 6th through 8th grades to visit our Open House event on November 16th at 6:00pm. The addition of a new St. Francis family which is strong in faith, academics, and spirit is one of the greatest gifts you can give to our school.

Director of Recruiting - Admissions

On November 8th
we will
MIX IT UP at LUNCH

What is Mix It UP at Lunch?

On November 8th, we will encourage our students to join hundreds of thousands of students around the country and stir things up in the school cafeteria. The event encourages students to identify, challenge & cross the social boundaries that divide schools & communities.

As at many schools, the cafeteria at lunchtime is a social map of our whole school. A map criss-crossed with boundaries. These boundaries can create divisions and misunderstanding in schools and can lead to bullying, harassment and violence. But by working to cross the barriers students can help create an environment that is characterized by less conflict and instead by more tolerance.

Please encourage your children to see what happens if they mix it up at lunch and swap seats in the cafeteria, step out of their comfort zone and sit somewhere new, with someone new.

Notes from the Nurse

The flu season will be here before we know it. An annual flu shot is a safe and effective way to help protect you and your family from influenza. The CDC, with the support of leading health experts, recommends that everyone 6 months of age and older be immunized. Influenza is a serious respiratory illness that is easily spread and can lead to severe complications, even death. Consider this:

  • Between 15 and 60 million Americans suffer from influenza in an average year.
  • Influenza is an infectious disease that can cause a range of symptoms and effects ranging from mild to severe illnesses to life-threatening complications, even in healthy children or adults.
  • Children are two-to-three times more likely to get sick with the flu and spread the virus to others.
  • More than 200,000 people, including 20,000 children, are hospitalized each year from influenza-related complications.

The best way to protect yourself and your family from this infectious disease is to get vaccinated.
