Quote of the Week: "Coming together is a
beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working
together is success." ~
Henry Ford
You are all invited to come and listen to
our band at their fall
concert tonight beginning at 7:30pm in the
Kuhn Cultural Arts Center. The house will rock
tonight!
On Saturday, October 3rd our very own
sophomore, Phil Baker, bowled a perfect game of
300. Phil has been bowling for more than 10
years and is in two weekly scholarship
leagues. For bowling a 300 the USBC will
award Phil a ring and money toward his scholarship
fund. Phil hopes to bowl in college and earn
a scholarship. Congratulations!
We received formal notification from the
Illinois State Board of Education that a Fiscal
Year 2010 appropriation was not awarded for the
Parent Guardian Transportation Reimbursement
Program authorized under Section 29-5.2 of the
Illinois School Code. The lack of
Fiscal Year 2010 funding will prevent the State
Board from paying any Parent Guardian
Transportation claims filed for the 2008-2009
school year. These payments are normally made
in December of each year. In the event that
funds are restored this fiscal year, they will
promptly pay the 2008-2009 claims that were
submitted.
Go
Spartans!

Library
News
Until the end of October, the Library will be
featuring the artwork of junior, Kyle Gannon. Kyle
spent his summer searching resale shops for items
that would provide him with unique surfaces to
explore his interest in painting. As a result, he
has produced several unusual and intriguing works
which are displayed throughout the SFHS Library.
Following the exhibit of Kyle's work, the
Library will showcase the work of other AP Art and
Design Basic students. Parents are always welcome
to visit the Library and view current
displays. |

Notes
from the Guidance Department
"Jeepers
Creepers"- St. Francis is again Collecting Old
Peepers! Do you
have unused eye glasses or sun glasses around the
house? If so, donate your old eye glasses and sun
glasses to a good cause. This year St. Francis
High School will again collect old glasses for
"Sight Night". Volunteers will then repair and
classify the collected eye glasses by prescription
and hand deliver them to people in developing
countries who need eye glasses but cannot afford
them. Also, we invite St. Francis
students to collect old eye glasses in their
neighborhoods on Halloween while they are
"trick-or-treating". Please talk with your son and
daughter about this opportunity to collect more
than just candy this Halloween. Free Trick-or
Treat collection kits and a drop-off box for old
glasses is available in the Guidance &
Counseling Department. For more information,
please contact Mrs. Rupp at extension 104 or at arupp@sfhsnet.org. Please
drop off any eye glasses by the end of
October. |
