2011-12
Time Out for Reading

February | March | April

Time Out for Reading is a program designed to provide students and staff with a time to read for personal pleasure, enjoyment and relaxation in hopes that this time will spur the reader to set aside in their daily life to continue the habit of reading. It is also a time for students and staff to come together in a relaxed atmosphere to discuss and share ideas about a common reading experience. Refreshments and thematic decorations help to create a mood conducive to open sharing and the creation of new relationships.

2011-12 2nd Semester Time Out for Reading

The second semester title for Time out for Reading have been selected and information regarding each is listed below.

February: Maze Runner by James Dashner;

The Maze Runner (Maze Runner Series #1)When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls. The Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift.

The next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.
