SCHOLARSHIPS / FINANCIAL AID

Thanks to a host of generous donors, last year alone we awarded more than $30,000.00 in scholarships. Many of the students who receive scholarships would not have had the opportunity to attend St. Francis without assistance. Applications are available and are due back to us by March 10th. If you feel you qualify for more than one scholarship, then you may submit more than one application. All applications must be complete. The scholarships available are:


Top

• President's Scholarship
The President’s Scholarship is a need-based scholarship. Students that qualify for financial aid through the Diocese of Joliet will be awarded the President's Scholarship. The amount will be determined based on the value of the endowment that funds this scholarship. To apply go to: www.factstuitionaid.com

Criteria:

  • Joliet Diocese determines student(s) to qualify for financial aid.

This scholarship may be renewed each year provided the scholarship recipient is an active participant in co-curricular activities and exhibits positive behavior while attending St. Francis.

• Douglas P. Colbeth & Margaret R. Colbeth Endowed Scholarship
A $2,500 renewable scholarship, established by the Colbeth family, is available for an incoming freshman.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrate significant financial need
  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Maintained at least a “B” average in grade school

This scholarship may be renewed each year provided the scholarship recipient maintains at least a 3.0 G.P.A. and exhibits positive behavior while attending St. Francis.

• Principal’s Academic Scholarship
A $1,500 renewable scholarship is available for an incoming freshman based on academic excellence.

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis and score in the 90th percentile
  • 6th, 7th and 8th grade report cards must reflect academic excellence

This scholarship may be renewed each year provided the scholarship recipient maintains at least a 3.0 G.P.A. and exhibits positive behavior while attending St. Francis.

• Kay Finn Memorial Scholarship
A $1,500 renewable scholarship is available for an incoming freshman based on academic excellence in memory of Kay Finn, a long-time, dedicated SFHS staff member.

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis and score in the 90th percentile
  • 6th, 7th and 8th grade report cards must reflect academic excellence

• Alumni Association Scholarship
One $2,200 renewable scholarship given by the Alumni Association to an incoming freshman who is the child/grandchild of a St. Francis alumnus/alumna.

Criteria:

  • A child/grandchild of a St. Francis alumnus/alumna
  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Demonstrate financial need

This scholarship may be renewed each year provided the scholarship recipient maintains at least a 3.0 G.P.A. and exhibits involvement and positive behavior while attending St. Francis.

• Ronald ’65 & Theresa Franklin ’67 Kuhn Alumni Scholarship
A $1,000 non-renewable scholarship given to one incoming freshman who is a child/grandchild of an alumnus/alumna.

Criteria:

  • A child/grandchild of a St. Francis alumnus/alumna
  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Score well on Entrance Exam
  • Exhibit outstanding leadership qualities and participation in extracurricular activities
  • Demonstrate financial need

A $1,000 non-renewable scholarship given to one incoming freshman.

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Score well on Entrance Exam
  • Exhibit outstanding leadership qualities and participation in extra-curricular activities
  • Demonstrate financial need

• The Shaw Family Scholarship
A renewable Full Tuition scholarship, established by the Shaw Family, and given to one incoming freshman.

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Score well on Entrance Exam
  • Show a combination of academic and leadership talents
  • History of extra-curricular involvement
  • Demonstrate financial need

• Rev. Stanislaus Gryga Scholarship
A $750 non-renewable scholarship, established in honor of Rev. Stanislaus Gryga, and given to one incoming freshman.

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Score well on Entrance Exam
  • Demonstrate financial need

• Beverly McCleary Memorial Scholarship
A $1,000 renewable scholarship established by the Mark McCleary family and given to
one incoming freshman.

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Oldest or first person in family to attend St. Francis
  • Demonstrate financial need

This scholarship may be renewed each year provided the scholarship recipient maintains at least a 3.0 G.P.A. and exhibits positive behavior while attending St. Francis.

• Virtue Family Scholarship

A $1000 renewable scholarship established by the Patrick Virtue Family.

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Score well on Entrance Exam
  • Show a combination of academic and leadership talents
  • History of extra-curricular involvement
  • Demonstrate financial need

This scholarship may be renewed each year provided the scholarship recipient maintains at least a 3.0 G.P.A. and exhibits positive behavior while attending St. Francis.

This scholarship will be available for the 2011/2012 school year.

William & Barbara Dixon Scholarship

A $2,000 renewable scholarship established by William and Barbara Dixon

Criteria:

  • High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
  • Score well on Entrance Exam
  • Show a combination of academic and leadership talents
  • History of extra-curricular involvement
  • Demonstrate financial need

This scholarship will be available for the 2010/2011 school year.

1-2-3 Exteriors Scholarship
A $4,000 renewable scholarship, established by Mike Braun of 1-2-3 Exteriors which is given to one incoming freshman.

Criteria:
• High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
• Score well on Entrance Exam
• Show a combination of academic and leadership talents
• History of extra-curricular involvement
• Demonstrate financial need

This scholarship will be available for the 2012/2013 school year.

John Sorenson Memorial Scholarship
A $1,000 renewable scholarship, established by the Sorenson family which is given to one incoming
freshman.

Criteria:
• High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
• Score well on Entrance Exam
• Show a combination of academic and leadership talents
• History of extra-curricular involvement
• Demonstrate financial need

This scholarship will be available for the 2012/2013 school year.

Margaret (Meg) Webb Memorial Scholarship

A $2,500 renewable scholarship established by Greg Webb in memory of his sister and given to one incoming freshman girl.

Criteria:
• High School Entrance Exam taken at St. Francis
• History of extra-curricular involvement
• Demonstrate financial need

This scholarship will be available for the 2010/2011 school year.

Kazma Family Scholarships - Available through the Diocese of Joliet

The Kazma Family Foundation will be providing a four-year renewable scholarship to students entering any of the Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Joliet.  Twenty-five students will be selected based on financial need.  All incoming freshmen are encouraged to apply. FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid is available through the Diocese of Joliet and St. Francis High School. Forms are available in the main office and through FACTS after January 1st. The forms may be completed on-line through the facts tuition aid website by clicking on the blue link above.
